What very strange times we find ourselves in
3 weeks ago we saw the lockdown begin
None of us knew what to expect
But for the sake of the country we had to respect
Family and friends were put on hold
Most of us doing what we were told
How we all yearn to get back to the rink
To tear us away from that damn kitchen sink
Bowling with friends that we all seem to miss
Happy times when life was such bliss
What a party we'll have in our new clubhouse room
To help us forget all this heart ache and gloom
Stay strong my friends we shall bowl once more
And once again keep an eye on the score.
Portchester Bowling Club was established in 1986. We have gained a reputation as a club that welcomes new and experienced bowlers and are known as “The Friendly Club”.
We have an all-weather outdoor green, which means our members can play throughout the whole year – playing in frost and snow is a challenge!
Summer Season - 1st April to 30th September
Six teams represent the club in the Portsmouth & District and Gosport & Fareham leagues.
A variety of internal club competitions are held, including a Saturday Triples League which has proved to be very popular with all levels of players, and an ideal introduction to competitive bowling for beginners.
Up to six organised roll ups every week
Monday 10am - 12noon
Tuesday 2pm - 4pm
Thursday 2pm - 4pm
Saturday 10am - 12noon

Wednesday 6pm -8pm after completion of League Season
Winter Season - 1st October to 31st March
We play in a league with other local clubs with outdoor all-weather rinks.
Various internal club competitions also run through the Winter.
Five organised roll ups every week

Tuesday 1pm - 3pm
Wednesday 10am - 12 noon

And even if there isn’t an organised roll up chances are there will be an informal one.
Interested learners can enjoy three trial sessions under the guidance of our qualified team of coaches, after which they may apply to become members. Bowls are available to borrow.
Guest bowlers are always welcome but they must be accompanied by a club member and can only play if there is spare capacity on the green. Appropriate rink fees will be payable.
