Pat Pickard has been very busy making this pretty felt hearts for Rowans hospice during the lockdown. They are used by families to write messages on and then they are displayed on a Memory tree in the chapel or families take them home. The Rowans are so grateful and send her a Heartfilled thank you. If anyone has any spare sequins, decorative small buttons or thin ribbons. (Ladies - the thin ribbons that are inside jumpers and tops for when you put them on hangers is ideal) we can use for decoration please let me know.
UPDATE ON CLUB RE-OPENING 19.5.20
Posted by Debbie on 19 May 2020

Guidance has been received from Bowls England setting out essential procedures to enable clubs to re-open.
The Committee met today to discuss the guidance and considered the measures that would be required.
Ultimately the health and safety of our members is paramount and the very difficult decision was therefore made not to open the club at this time.
A further meeting will take place in mid June to review the position.
Thank you for your understanding.
LATEST UPDATE 12th MAY
Posted by Debbie on 13 May 2020
With the Government guidelines changing all the time, a Committee meeting is being held next week to discuss what precautions and safeguards Portchester Bowling Club would have to implement to re-open.
Until such time as this happens the rink will remain closed.

NATIONAL AND LOCAL UPDATES
Posted by Debbie on 13 May 2020
Bowls England
National Championships & National Competitions
The National Championships and Competitions are cancelled in their entirety for 2020 (including all County Championship qualifying rounds)
Bowls Hampshire
Bowling at Clubs prior to 1st July
As a large proportion of club members are over age 70 (who may well be self-isolating) and taking into account that Social Distancing is in place, BH recommends that Clubs should not allow bowling before 1st July.
County Activities prior to 1st July
There will be no County activities in the period up to the 1st July. All inter county matches in that period are cancelled.
Activities Post 1st July
A review by 1st June will decide whether activities can resume after 1st July. Given that there will be no National Championships in August and depending upon the position the County may look to introduce some events to encourage members to return to the green.
P&DBA – P&DWBA – G&F
League Matches
Following these recommendations all leagues have been cancelled for 2020 season.
Competitions
Running of competitions will be reviewed later in the season and updates posted as and when received.
